George Hofheimer

 

 

George A. Hofheimer is Chief Research Officer for the Filene Research Institute, a nonprofit organization that investigates vital issues affecting credit unions and consumer finance. Prior to joining the Institute in 2005, Hofheimer was Chief Learning Officer at the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) for 7 ½ years. Prior to his career in the credit union movement, Hofheimer was a consultant for a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations in the former Soviet Republic of Uzbekistan, including the U.S. Peace Corps, Price Waterhouse, the American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR) and the US Trade and Development Agency.

On behalf of the credit union movement, George has worked closely with faculty at Harvard Business School, the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of Management, and the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, as well as with Oxford University and the London Business School in the U.K. He also developed credit union curricula in cooperation with The Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.

George has authored numerous papers on credit union and consumer finance issues, and is a frequent presenter at credit union industry events on training, technology, governance and strategic planning topics. He earned his BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife Carrie and two boys Huck and Milo. He is a washed up marathoner and an over-ambitious soccer player
