Todd A. Gold is currently the Director of Policy Research at the New York State Consumer Protection Board (CPB). He is working on a variety of consumer issues that include entertainment ticket reselling, home improvement contractors, and consumer protections as they relate to the credit card industry.

Prior to joining the CPB, he was Vice President at Barrett Associates, a legislative consulting and government relations firm. One of his many successes includes assisting in the passage of legislation prohibiting health practitioners convicted of no-fault fraud from collecting no-fault insurance payments. His clients included Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York (IIABNY).  He also managed the legislative affairs of a not-for-profit family and children’s service association.

Todd started his legislative policy and government affairs career through an internship with former Assembly Majority Leader Paul Tokasz. Subsequently, he began work on the Program and Counsel staff with the New York State Assembly as the analyst for the Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee. In that capacity, he drafted, researched and analyzed bills that were introduced into the Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee. Of significance were laws Todd drafted prohibiting the sale of the herb ephedra, setting forth tighter disclosure and regulations for gift cards, addressing the dangers of children’s clothing with drawstrings, and creating identity theft protections.

Todd received his Juris Doctor and his Master of Social Work from the University of Buffalo and a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Brockport.
